About Uzazi Foundation
The UZAZI Foundation is the birth of a mission that we hope will last till the end of time.
The UZAZI Foundation is a Canadian incorporated non-profit organization formed from the dreams of many who strive to make this world better than we found it. Canada’s rich socio political and international contributions to world development has certainly inspired our confidence that we could help schools in the developing world.
We have completed 7 missions to Jamaica by air, bringing in audio video equipment, teaching resources, musical and sports equipment. We have met with Jamaica’s acting Minister of Education, Karl Samuda and we were issued a letter of support from the ministry acknowledging our work in Jamaica.
In March of 2020 we shipped our first 40 foot container of school supplies.
These schools have so little yet they do so very much to create and fan the sparks in the eyes of children many who have so very little but for dreams of becoming so much more.
About the C.E.O of UZAZI Foundation
Devon has been credited with being one of UZAZI’s primary creators and leading its campaigns. For him it has been the realization of a dream. We are not sure if it is so much the concept of “giving back” or simply just “giving”. Having graduated Calabar High in 1978 as an unremarkable student he has been blessed with what most would consider a remarkable family gifted with influence and other uncommon resources. I attended high schools in Canada, the University of Guelph and then Carleton University studying Sociology and Anthropology and International Politics. Having worked for some 30 years in a career dedicated to helping disadvantaged children, adults and the families who love them. Devon has helped some 25,000 children in Canada it has been his dream to find a forum through which to assist at least 25,000 children in the developing world per year. Jamaica was selected as it is the country he knows best There is currently three local uzazi operative namely Carlton Grant/ Kingston, Hilda Hibbert/Westmoreland and Janice Julal/Clarendon.
Devon’s core belief is “From who much is given much is expected”.
We do not have to be wealthy to make a difference. An inspired voice alone might call wealth to be bared to support a just and worthy cause.
This mission was to Bellefield Primary and Infant School in Jamaica. The principle Mrs. Anderson was presented with audio visual components for her school in January 2019.
This is Mr. Anderson of Woodlands Primary School, Jamaica. Uzazi was able to present them with audio visual equipment.
