Measuring Student Performance
This section seeks to provide reports that can be used to measure student’s holistic performance while in school.
Gradebook Failing Grades Report – Student
The failing grades report allows a user to pull a report to find students whose gradebook average is below a certain gradebook average threshold during a given term and is organized by class. A student failing multiple classes, could be listed multiple times. Pull this report before progress reports and report cards so that you can help create action plans to intervene with low performing students.
Excessive Absent/Tardy – Student
An extremely customizable report, this report allows users to program their parameters for how many tardies/absences seems excessive to them. Users can then look for trends based on timeframes and can even filter out any excused absence they may not count against a student. Combine this information with your failing grades report to cross reference, and make sure a student’s low performance is not a result of their not attending lessons.
Behavior Details Report (Full Details)
This report allows users to quickly create their parameters, sorted by student (though there are a variety of sorting methods) to figure out which students in their schools are getting into trouble the most. This report can show you briefly, who the students with behavior problems are, when a demerit was reported, what for and by what staff member. Compare the staff member reporting to the failing grades report and see if there are patterns with a student’s behavior and poor academic performance.
Publishing Academic Reports
How to Publish and distribute academic reports digitally
In the communication tool, switch from “Message” view to “Reports” view to select the report type and template that you wish to use. Your Filter list, where you can select, your recipients will automatically change to only parents with the “Grade Related” rights. Type your message and send!
The second way to distribute academic reports is through Family Portal. Go to Family Portal Configuration, and be sure to click “show” on the academic report you wish your families to see. Your families will then be able to visit the student section in Family Portal, to see their academic records.
Graduation Planner in FACTS SIS
Graduation Planner is a tool that allows users to input a set of criteria and run an audit report to see which students are complying, and which students are failing to live up to the requirements set forth in graduation planner. A user can set up the multiple graduation plans, and assign those plans to students either in the student screen, or in the graduation planner itself as well as from grade level configuration. As you can see from the screenshot below, you can set up a requirement, tie a requirement to a course department, or particular course every student has to take, then set the number of credits and grade requirement a student has to meet to stay on plan. The source grades here are from the transcript.
Once the plan is configured, assign students in the student view of the graduation planner tool to indicate which plan a student should be on, visit the advising tab in the student screen, or grade levels in the configuration screen.
To audit which students are on plan, visit report manager > student > Graduation Plan Audit, select your student(s) and run the audit. Check the status column on the far right to get a quick glance at who is not meeting the plan!
